Cuyahoga Valley National Park (Horseshoe Pond and the adjacent pond)
Cuyahoga Valley National Park ponds are producing again this year. The park is filled with small old farm ponds that have been recaptured by the wildlife. Stocking programs in these ponds, helps the fish populations. Species found : largemouth, redear sunfish, bluegills, carp (that I have visually Id-ed, may be come catfish in there too). Horseshoe pond like most other CVNP ponds is heavily vegetated so I used topwater and snagless lures. The bass in the pictures were caught on Carolina rig (motor oil worm, and dark purple worm, 5") and the biggest fish in the pictures was caught on a Rapala Skitter Pop 7 frog pattern (awesome lure). Water in these ponds tends to stay relatively clear, unless recent storms, but it has a permanent brown stain. The top fish was caught in the heat of the day at 2 pm, while the other 2 were caught at 530pm and 8 pm respectively. Not huge fish, but I saw bigger ones in the water that I didn't catch. One downfall of the very heavy cover on these ponds is that I lost 3 fish in the lillypads after they had burried themselves in the brush. Need to practice my hooksetting skills on a Carolina rig as well because while I only landed a few, the strikes came often.

Huron River
Just went fishing (may 5, 2011) with my old man in Huron, Ohio. Fished from the pier (lighthouse) and casted in all three directions. My bass-ing with spinnerbaits and cranks was not successful but my dad caught a ton of 30in+ channel catfish. Secret bait : cooked jumbo shrimp. Fished the bottom. Locals said that the bass will be heavy in this area in about two weeks. But for now, giant channel cats caught on shrimp, try it out. Pictures to come
